You Need To Stop Living In Your Past Failures

Failure is a consistent and normal part of life. Yet many of us refuse to register it as such in our minds.

The mistakes we’ve made, the things we failed at, the situations that made us feel inferior, they often settle in our hearts as trauma. This trauma keeps us stuck and unable to move forward or let go.

But does failure define us? No. Without failure, there’s no progress. Without mistakes, there won’t be corrections. And corrections? It’s a repair of what we once failed to do well.

Dwelling on past failures and shortcomings will only keep you stagnant, or in worse cases, it’ll make you more miserable than you were.

I watched a documentary about a lady who struggled with obesity. As a child, she was mocked for her size. Society laughed at her for being overweight, and she felt like a failure for being who she was.

This led to anxiety, and the only way she could feel better was to eat more food. The more she ate, the less anxious she felt, but the bigger she became.

She couldn’t let go of the things people said to her or how much of a burden she felt she was to her family and friends. She kept living in her past, refusing to let go.

But it did her more harm than good. Because as she held on to her failures, she became more of those things she felt regret for.

And that’s the twist of it all.

You hate yourself for not being good at something, and instead of trying to do better, you go into depression and keep failing.

Let’s take a businessman whose business took a bad turn, for instance. Losing in business is a big deal already, but instead of bouncing back and trying to recover his losses, he goes into depression and drinks to feel better.

There are many implications of his actions. First, he’s never going to bounce back with his current attitude. Second, the little money remaining is being squandered on drinks.

Now, let me ask: Do you think his attitude is beneficial to him or not? I’m sure you have your answer.

As much as failure can be depressing, failing yourself is worse. Dwelling on your past failures means failing yourself. Refusing to accept reality and move on is failing yourself.

Even if you’ve failed at everything, don’t fail yourself. The future awaits you.

You can only see signs of a better life by looking forward. Let go of the weight in your heart, because you truly deserve a better life.

When you let go and leave the past where it belongs, you’ll begin to like the person you see in the mirror.

Change leads to success. Transformation brings fulfillment.

If Elon Musk is still trying, why aren’t you doing the same?
