Introducing The Nigerian Mirror: A Series Of Honest Reflections On The Nigerian Life
Nigerians are people filled with loads of characters and personalities that you won’t imagine a person could display. These characters are very unique, individual and sometimes collective.
But what happens when we pause and truly look at ourselves for what we are, the things we called normal, where we’re getting it wrong and where we are doing things right? What if we looked at ourselves not as individuals but as a people?
This series is my way of holding up a mirror to our everyday lives in Nigeria. From the subtle habits we ignore to the loud behaviors we excuse, I’ll be exploring the things we do, why we do them and how we can grow from them.
Some entries in this series might be controversial, some lighthearted, and others more serious. This series will mirror the good and bad sides of the Nigerian people. It will be honest, reflective and rooted in our shared experience.
Whatever I’ll be saying in this series will hit home and will be familiar to you; nothing foreign.
I believe that as a people, we need to see ourselves for what we are. And I’ve realized that for us to grow, we need to be fully aware of what we do—our daily lives.
This awareness is what this series pushes for. If my words can help one person pause, reflect and change, then this mirror is worth holding up. Because change, they say, begins with one person.
So welcome to The Nigerian Mirror. It’ll be a ride of raw truth. I hope you see yourself in these reflections, and I hope you grow from them.
